چکیده

Accurate information on the spatial distribution of weeds is key to effective site-specific weed management and efficient sustainable use control measures. This work focuses early detection johnsongrass, common cocklebur velvetleaf present in a corn field using high resolution airborne hyperspectral imagery acquired when plants were four six leaf growth stage. Following appropriate radiometric geometric corrections, two supervised classification techniques, such as spectral angle mapper (SAM) mixture analysis (SMA) applied. Two different procedures compared for endmember selections: measurements automatic methods identify pure pixels image. Maps both, overall each three species, obtained with sources. The best results achieved by defining endmembers through collected spectroradiometer. Overall accuracies ranged between 60% 80% SAM maps that do not differentiate species while it decreased 52% individually classified. In this case, SMA technique clearly improved results. proposed methodology shows be promising prospect applicable low cost images new generation sensors onboard unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

Microarray analysis of late-season velvetleaf (Abutilon theophrasti ) effect on corn

Sharon A. Clay Department of Plant Science, South Dakota State University, Brookings, SD 57007 Microarray analysis was used to identify changes in gene expression in corn leaves collected from plants at the V11–14 growth stage that resulted from competition with velvetleaf. The plants were grown in field plots under adequate N (addition of 220 kg N ha 1) and irrigation to minimize N and water s...

Evaluation of Ostrinia nubilalis (Lepidoptera: Crambidae) neonate preferences for corn and weeds in corn.

Choice tests were conducted to determine feeding preferences of European corn borer, Ostrinia nubilalis (Hübner) (Lepidoptera: Crambidae), neonates for 15 species of plants. Percentage of neonates accepting (found on) each leaf disc after 24 h was measured using choice tests. Initially, nine species of plants were evaluated. The following year, 10 plant species were evaluated during O. nubilali...

Atrazine Resistance in a Velvetleaf (Abutilon theophrasti) Biotype Due to Enhanced Glutathione S-Transferase Activity.

We previously reported that a velvetleaf (Abutilon theophrasti Medic) biotype found in Maryland was resistant to atrazine because of an enhanced capacity to detoxify the herbicide via glutathione conjugation (JW Gronwald, Andersen RN, Yee C [1989] Pestic Biochem Physiol 34: 149-163). The biochemical basis for the enhanced atrazine conjugation capacity in this biotype was examined. Glutathione l...

Inhibition of Velvetleaf (Abutilon theophrasti) Germination and Growth by Benzyl Isothiocyanate, a Natural Toxicant!

/ Abstract. Benzyl isothiocyanate (BITC) was extracted from mature papaya (Carica papaya L.) seeds and applied to imbibed velvetleaf (Abutilon theophrasti Medic. #3 ABUTH) seeds. Complete inhibition of germination occurred at a concentration of 6 x l(f4 M BITC, and only 28% (compared to controls) of the seeds germinated after 4 days exposure to the 4 x l(f4 M treatment. Corn (Zea mays L. 'DeKal...

Applying linear spectral unmixing to airborne hyperspectral imagery for mapping yield variability in grain sorghum and cotton fields

This study examined linear spectral unmixing techniques for mapping the variation in crop yield for precision agriculture. Both unconstrained and constrained linear spectral unmixing models were applied to airborne hyperspectral imagery collected from a grain sorghum field and a cotton field. A pair of crop plant and soil spectra derived from each image was used as endmember spectra to generate...
